Treble triumph for  Rangers

Mumbles Rangers u13's entered the record books by becoming the first junior side in the 40 year history of the Swansea junior football league to do the grand slam treble, having secured the West Wales cup and the SJFL U'13 Cup. They completed the 3rd leg with a convincing 3-0 win over West End United in a divisional play off after both teams had ended the season level on points.

The game played at Morriston Towns ground started with both teams even for the first 10 minutes however Mumbles began to take control and Sam Davies missed a chance to put them ahead when the ball just bobbled as he prepared to shoot. Soon it was 1-0 a terrific run down the left wing by Lewis Greenslade that ended with a great cross which Sam Davies volleyed side footed into the net. West End barely threatened and just before half time a text book corner from Matthew Bignall was met with a Header by Rhys Dezuliun to make it 2-0.

The second half saw the Mumbles keeper make one good save but a penalty converted by Luke Allen made it 3-0, the West End keeper then pulled off  5 outstanding saves to prevent Mumbles extending the lead while Mumbles also hit the bar.

At the end Mumbles were applauded by 5 or 6 West End players and their parents  who showed true sportsmanship in the absence of their Manager . So the League Title was added to the Swansea Cup where Mumbles defeated West End 1-0 and the West Wales Cup where once again Mumbles defeated West End this time 3-2. A truly remarkable season which has seen Mumbles remain unbeaten in the league for the second season in a row.

Cheers
